School-based Therapist

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in providing therapy to children and adolescents with a diagnosis of mental illness and/or developmental disabilities and/or pervasive developmental disabilities and/or behavioral disorders in the school setting.

Responsibilities

  • Implement approaches of CBT, play therapy, trauma-focused, and motivational interviewing in psychotherapy with children in Early Childhood classrooms through 2nd grade
  • Support teachers and staff with behaviors in the classroom
  • Conduct initial biopsychosocial assessment
  • Develop treatment plans
  • Maintain clinical records and adhere to timelines
  • Coordinate/collaborate with parents, teachers, school administrators, intermediate school staff and administrators
  • Able to make referrals for additional services as needed

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling
  • Valid professional license
  • Professional verbal/written skills
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs
  • Strong skills in crisis management and the ability to handle challenging situations effectively
