June Is PTSD Awareness Month

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, affects over 12 million American adults in any given year. Anyone who is exposed to trauma — Veterans and civilians alike — can develop symptoms of PTSD, and those symptoms can look very different from one person to another. PTSD symptoms are a natural and normal reaction to an abnormal or distressing event, such as military combat, natural disasters, terrorist incidents, serious accidents, or physical or sexual assault as an adult or in childhood.

June is PTSD Awareness Month, and Mental Health America is offering a quick, easy and confidential way to determine if you might be experiencing it. If you or someone you know is struggling, take the first step and visit the online screening here.
